Moz, the leader in the SEO technology has made a recent announcement with regard to an upcoming update to the algorithm behind the page authority. This update will help in accurate prediction with the ability of the page to rank on a result page. The new update is known as Page Authority 2.0 and will be launched on the 30th of September 2020. The new factors that are included in the recent update are Spam Score & link quality pattern identification.
But what is the Page Authority?
- It understands what your customer searches for
- It incorporates keywords into your website based on the gathered information
- It improves your website’s SEO factors such as the page layout and the quality of the content
- It ultimately spreads the word about your content
It is nothing but a score that is developed by Moz which helps in predicting the chances of a page to rank higher on the SERP. The score ranges from one to 100, so to rank higher in the SERP then greater would be the ability of the page to rank higher.
There are various factors that are taken into consideration by Moz while scoring. Moz uses the Domain Authority and several other link-related factors that help analyze the page strength and its potential to rank higher in the SERP.
According to Rob Ousbey, who is the VP Product at Moz has told that Moz’s authority metric helps the SEO gain clarity on the strength of their pages & also helps them identify the efforts to link related that have to be paid importance to. Their main idea behind this was to ensure that they provide the best quality SEO data. This change in the algorithm will also help the professional in the field of digital marketing and SEO a chance to decide on what actions need to be taken and decide on the contents to develop.
The page authority is a proprietary metric that will never affect the rankings on the search engines directly whereas the SEO is informed on a regular basis with regard to the strength of an individual page to rank higher. Now with the latest advancements happening in this proprietary model, it’s bound that SEO themselves will see changes in their personal scores but it should be tracked based on the industry competitors and to what’s happening within the industry.
Previously, Moz used to use SERPs alone to train the Page Authority model. Agreed that this method was simple and direct but it had left much to be asked for. Now the company’s latest Page Authority has redefined the training set. Previously the modeling of the Page Authority was based on the capability of an individual page to outshine the other pages and now in the future, the cumulative value of a page will be based on various metrics like traffic & CPC. This will help Moz in a better comparing of the pages.
